Behind the scenes.

The Rizz Off was a short film project created for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Communication Arts 355 class, which taught the basics of filmmaking. I worked with two other group members, Jack Scharff and Eileen Egan, to make this short.

The Rizz Off is a comedy that plays off of today’s dating culture. Written by my crew member Jack, the script sought to display typical college behavior and how things do not always work out in the dating world.

My role in the project was mostly Director of Photography, as well as editing and helping with directing. I wanted to focus on the way we could use angles and camera movement to keep the story moving in a compelling way. All three of us pitched in for the editing process, taking turns working through the footage and refining the edit. The Rizz Off was my first comedy project and I realized it might not be my last one.
